I decided to go and see War of the Worlds on opening night, which in itself was fine.
However, we sat near a group of people who decided that the movie was a comedy and laughed at the stupidest things that were completely NON funny. The movie is not a comedy at all, there were a few stuck in funny things (Peanut butter sandwich thrown on the window? Funny.) but they were very few and far between. Oh, Boston is completely destroyed! Funny...not.
Anyhow, I loved the movie it had a lot of tense moments and you could really see how traumatic it would be for the characters. Tom Cruise did really well and Dakota Fanning was awesome. Special effects were really well done and nothing looked like it was computer generated which is always a plus in my book, one of the annoying things about Matrix 2 and 3 were the obvious use of computer CG animation for many of the effects. War of the Worlds for sure makes it to my "must buy" list when it comes out on DVD. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.
I guess my point is sometimes people are really annoying at movies and think things that really weren't meant to be funny as humerous. I dunno. It's late and I have to finish my laundry so I have some clothes to wear to work tomorrow but I'm about to fall out of my chair.
Go see the movie, and don't laugh at the stuff that isn't really very funny. :)
