Warning: This is long.
Yeah, so I'm back. Didn't have any Net access over there. The hotel had a couple PCs in the lobby that guests could use but...I was leary of that.
You see, the hotel we stayed at just happened to be right in the Korean Business District. Yeah, you heard me right. That in itself was not really the problem. I was just worried about using the PCs for anything sensitive because there were software programs installed I didn't know, and others in other languages I couldn't understand and didn't want the risk of having a keylogger or something capturing all my critical info. So I went a week without Internet access.
Going that long without Internet wasn't so bad really. It's actually bad NOW, cause I opened my email and have like 200 messages I have to sort through, and that's after my spam filter got rid of stuff.
Anyhow. I didn't take any photos this vacation for some odd reason, even though I took my camera. I did however get some video of the area we stayed in plus all the normal Vacation stuff. Of course, I completely forgot my camcorder the day we went to Universal Studios which sucked but I'll get over it :)
For the most part the weather was not nice to us. Saturday it rained, Sunday was nice, Monday was nice, Tuesday it rained, Wednesday it was not raining, Thursday it was dark and cold, Friday was nice, Saturday was nice.
Of course, our two off days were the best days. We went one night to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner which is always awesome and it was my Mom and sisters first time there so that was an added bonus. The three of us got out of there for $91 and change...yeah it's expensive but it's worth it once in a while. It's one of the only restaurants I've seen that a good portion of the people leaving have doggy bags. I recommend checking them out if you can, you won't be disappointed.
Monday: Disneyland was fun as usual. Lines were long but that is expected. Indiana Jones and Splash Mountain were the two busiest rides this time out. It was common for the wait time for both of these rides to be 75 to 90 minutes each. One of my personal favorites is Star Tours and the lines were always reasonable on it (30 minutes or so) but everybody got to do all that they wanted to on the first day there. I split off by myself later in the evening and hit Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Star Tours like 2 or 3 times each in just a couple hours while everybody else (in the park) was sitting and waiting for the Fantasm show. I would have liked to get Splash Mountain and Indy Jones a couple more times but just couldn't bring myself to waiting in the lines again for them, even at 10pm they were still well over an hour wait to get on them.
The next day (Tuesday) we did California Adventures, a new experience for all of us. I had a lot of fun on their big roller coaster and the Hollywood Tower of Terror. I even got Mom to hit the Tower though she claims she didn't like it, but I know better. They also have this nifty water rafting ride which sufficently gets everybody pretty wet. In fact, you could hold a wet t-shirt contest just from this ride, sadly there weren't any winners that I saw. :D We didn't spend all hours of the day at this park, we were pretty much done by about 6 or 7 pm. No video from this day, I knew there was a big water ride and was supposed to rain. Didn't want to risk screwing up my camcorder.
Wednesday was our off day, hung out went shopping etc, not much to report about it.
Thursday we hit Universal Studios...which was about 40 miles from where we were staying so we got the live the adventure they call California Freeways again. It took us almost 2 hours to get there. There wasn't a lot of long-lasting memories made here but my sister and I had fun anyway. My mother didn't enjoy it at all, in fact the only three things she did were the Terminator 2, Shrek 4-D and Waterworld shows. Lori and I hit everything else, Back to the Future, Van Helsing, Jurassic Park, Backdraft and The Mummy: The Ride or something. Oh, I take that back, Mom went on the Studio Tour with us also. My favorite things were Shrek, Studio Tour and Jurassic Park. On the Studio Tour we got to see a set from the upcoming movie War of the Worlds and I'm looking forward to seeing the set we saw in the movie. We all enjoyed the Animal Planet Live show using live animals and such, was entertaining. The Waterworld show was impressive also, but most of us were ready to leave when it started and we were glad to get out after closing time. No video this day either, forgot it at the hotel.
Friday was an off day also since we didn't feel the need to go back up to Universal Studios for the 2nd day of our tickets. Lori and I hit the Movieland Wxs Museum and Ripley's Believe it or Not. The wax museum was cool, Lori hadn't seen stuff like that before but I was a little disappointed because the Alien from...Alien didn't jump out at her like it was supposed to. The Psycho display got her though, so it was all worthwhile. I got everything on video, I remembered my camera this time :)
Saturday we drove. It was nice to get home after being gone from home that long. Tasha really missed me and has been telling me all about it too.
Until the next entry, ta ta!
