Wow! I logged in today to SpreadFirefox.com to get a link I needed and I have moved up the ranks! I'm currently ranked 121 out of all the affiliates. I took a screenshot as proof and you can view it by clicking the thumbnail. If I go up more I'll just have to take more screenshots :)

Freaking Hard!

| | Comments ()
I've been playing San Andreas for a couple days now and I gotta tell you, it's dang hard! I am constantly doing missions 3-10 times or more to get them done. All I wanna do is get out of the first city and this is starting to drive me insane!
I have it! It's right here with me. Unfortunately I can't play it until I get off work in a few more hours. I've heard nothing but awesomeness about it though. I can't wait!

EverQuest II Beta

| | Comments ()
I missed it, FilePlanet was giving away 4500 beta keys for EverQuest 2 and all I ever got trying to get in were errors. Really wonderful. I pay $80 or $90 a year to FilePlanet and then hardly ever get the extra things they promise. Oh well, it's still on pre-order and that release date is slated now for November 9th so I suppose if that's still accurate I can wait a few more weeks. Besides, GTA: San Andreas is out Tuesday and Half-Life 2 is out the 16th.

Oooh, feel the softness!

I have not liked the sheets on my bed for quite some time, so I decided that it was time I did something about that.

I had to go grocery shopping last night at Wal-Mart anyway so I looked at what they had, and I discovered the reason I didn't like my sheets.

They are only 128 thread-count. I bought new 300 thread sheets and it makes a big difference. I was impressed.

When I actually buy a new bed I'll have to upgrade to 400+ I think :)

Some very cool software

| | Comments ()
OK, today I heard about the release of Google's new Desktop Search beta software, which I downloaded and installed. However, reading more into this I discovered that Copernic also now has a Desktop Search program...

I have both installed but I think the Copernic software is much more refined and simply works better for me.

One downside though to either of these are they are very Microsoft-Centric, so if you use software other than Microsoft Office for instance they may not fully index everything but I don't know for sure because I'm locked into MS Office. At home I can't use either since I do everything on a Mac but at work I can see a huge timesaver sometimes having something like this installed. I would recommend you check them both out and draw your own conclusions.

Both are free.

This makes me very anxious though for the new Mac OS X Tiger from Apple since it has this same sort of feature built into the new OS. Very exciting.

TiVo!

I finally couldn't stand it anymore and had to have a TiVo unit again! I drove down to Phoenix Saturday and picked one up, drove home, hooked it up and am sooo glad I did. I really did miss a lot of features that the built in DVR from Dish Network just doesn't have.

Buy one! You won't regret it at all. You can even use me as a referral and get to try it 30 days risk free! Just use my email address paul [at] mrdigital [dot] net when you activate your service. Please?
Tribes: Vengeance Review for PC at GameSpot

The new Tribes game has been reviewed over at GameSpot. 8.8, not bad at all. Unfortunatly I can't pick this up right away, money is a little tight and there are too many games coming out this time of year :(

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude for PC at GameSpot

It's out. It's reviewed. 7.2 is Good. Best on PC (of course) but alas, I can't pick this one up right now either. I may end up just renting it on Xbox so I can play it.

Ah, I remember ages ago playing the originals on the old Atari ST we used to have, the platform Sierra actually started on. I was only a kid and would have to guess at the questions they would ask to keep kids out of the game. The good old days :)

Half-Life 2 Steam presale begins, Counter-Strike: Source now available - PC News at GameSpot

Cool, just saw that Counter-Strike: Source is now available. Don't know if I'll buy it though :/

Howard Stern to Join Sirius Satellite Radio

Pretty interesting eh? I'm really not surprised, in fact it should work out quite well for him. He can curse and swear all he wants on Sirius :)

I used to listen to his show pretty regularly years ago but none of the radio stations here play him and I'm not really able to listen to it anymore. I don't have Sirius though either, oh well.

Slashdot | AT&T Considers Mac OS X, Linux For 70,000 Desktops

Awesome! Talk about a training and migration nightmare though :)

I must admit one of my guilty pleasures...the Disney movie Aladdin. I can't even remember how many times I've seen it and I haven't seen it for years now but when I saw the commercials on TV that they were releasing it on DVD I knew I had to have it. Of course, I watched it last night too and it was still awesome :) It's amazing that I could still remember so much of the dialogue. I probably could have recited a lot of it...but my sister was with me and that would have been embarrasing.

I also picked up Myst IV: Revelation because I felt like punishing myself I guess. I have URU and I never finished Myst but I was intrigued so I got it. I'm actually NOT stuck yet! I'm so proud of myself.

However, the item I'm most anticipating and have been for a while is Rockstar's new Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas! Three full cities to explore, each larger than Vice City plus the entire countryside in between the cities full of small towns and other stuff. Looks exciting and if it's even only as good as GTA3 and Vice City then it will still be worth it.

OK, time to catch up on a little TV. See you later.

Human Factor

What ended up being the problem with my coworkers DSL connection was that the phone company guy hooked it up wrong after they came out and "fixed" it. He plugged their answering machine into the DSL side of the phone filter so it kept interfering with the DSL modem, what clued me in was that the DSL modem would keep renegotiating speeds and never what speed it was supposed to be. Got it finally though, glad about that.

Working Afterhours

| | Comments ()
Going to be heading to a coworkers house after work today to try to get their DSL working properly. It's all messed up I guess and when it does work (which is rare) it's really super slow. Not like DSL should be or used to be. I'm going to take a new DSL modem with me so that I can test it out if I need to, if nothing else to eliminate the problem.
