GameSpot quote on Burnout 3

| | Comments ()
OK, I was looking around a little bit and saw this quote on GameSpot's review for Burnout 3.

With all these vastly different styles of driving games to choose from, it might be hard to figure out which type is the right one for you. With the release of Burnout 3: Takedown, developer Criterion Games makes the choice surprisingly easy. Put it this way: Even if driving games aren't normally your thing, Burnout 3 is still right for you. It's that good. It ranks among the best racing games ever made.

So, yeah. Go buy it already!

Burnout 3

I've been completely engrossed in Burnout 3 for Xbox since I got it. I can't explain it but I find it extremely entertaining for some reason. It's all I can do to put it down when it's time for bed or whatever. As you can see it's 1 am when I posted this. It's always "one more race, just one more!" After every race. It's awesome.

All that and I haven't even gone online yet with it. I find the single player so much fun I just haven't bothered with internet play yet. Should prove interesting once I get around to it :)

Dentists

| | Comments ()
Ack, I had to go to the dentist this morning for that tooth I busted Thursday. I had a nice little hole that he filled in and they found a new small cavity I get to go back for in a month. Yay!

I love getting drilled on, it's one of my favorite things in life. /sarcasm

In better news, somebody actually posted in the forums on my other site. Nice to hear from people again sometimes.

Looking forward to getting home and playing some more Burnout 3, it's highly entertaining so far and gets mighty intense trying to win races. I think I'll take it online tonight and try it out that way.

During lunch I stopped at Wal-Mart and picked up my copy of the Star Wars Trilogy Widescreen on DVD. Can't wait to get home and start watching it.

I also picked up a copy of Burnout 3 for Xbox which I hear nothing but awesome things about.

Star Wars on DVD

| | Comments ()
Just in case you've been living under a rock the last few months you'll know that tomorrow is the day that the original Star Wars Trilogy is in stores on DVD. That means go to your nearest store that sells DVDs and buy it. Now.
Thursday night I was eating my dinner and something in my mouth went CRUNCH!!

Looked and looked but never saw anything wrong but I can definately tell something's not right in my mouth. I am pretty sure I broke a tooth but I have to wait until Monday to call the dentist's office :(

Which is just as well cause I still felt like crap today and called in sick which I hate doing, it feels like I'm such a lump when I have to. Not only that, I was feeling a little better tonight so I turned on the Xbox to play a little Fable when the Disc Drive has decided it doesn't like working anymore, so guess what I get to do tomorrow? Yeah! I get to buy a new Xbox. Yay!

I better feel better tomorrow or...or...I don't know! But it just better.

Not feeling well

| | Comments ()
I haven't been feeling very well since last night. My gut hurts and I'm about to the point where I want to go home a little early today. Not happy about this at all.

Sister's sick PC

| | Comments ()
Yeah, fun stuff. I am getting to fix my sisters sick PC today. She doesn't practice safe computing so she gets lots of spyware and stuff all the time. Yesterday evening she calls me informing me that her computer has viruses on it and the antivirus software wasn't able to clean it up.

So I took it with me to work today. Going to install XP SP2 and put a better Antivirus package on it plus a firewall. I think I'm going to install Firefox also and just not give her a choice about what browser to use anymore, see how she likes that!

Fable

| | Comments ()
I might add before I hit the sack that Wal-Mart failed to have Fable still today. I was highly disappointed again. Maybe tomorrow. *sigh*

Watching Sims 2

| | Comments ()
I'm sitting here at home watching my little sister (she's 14) play the Sims 2 on my PC because her computer at her house isn't good enough for it. It's actually kind of frustrating watching her because I would be doing things sooo differently. She also has the tendancy to fast foward all the time which I find highly annoying.
GameSpot has posted a review for Call of Duty: United Offensive
Not a bad blog at all, I'll have to keep watching it because Mobile actually effects me way out here in Arizona because our main vendor we deal with each day is located there.
The new version of the awesome Firefox browser is available today. It's basically 1.0 I think but they're calling it the Preview Release so if nothing else, 1.0 is really close. Get it, you'll love it I'm sure. It also includes a new feature for viewing RSS feeds which looks really nice.

Fable, or lack thereof

| | Comments ()
I went over to Wal-Mart after work hopeful that I would be able to pick up Fable. No surprise really when I discovered that they didn't have it yet. $10 bucks it was sitting in the back just nobody bothered to put it on the shelves today. Anyway, I was standing there being mad that my evening wasn't going to be filled with Fable when I saw on the TVs a preview for it then stating that it would be available September 15th. So I'm giving them another chance....well, I don't have a choice really. Nobody else up here will ever get it other than maybe K-Mart in a few weeks.

*crosses fingers that they'll have it Wednesday*

Today's new releases

Blogs vs the News

Found this article online, a few days old but interesting nonetheless.
Blogs vs 60 Minutes
GameSpy already has a full review of The Sims 2 online. 5 out of 5.
I posted a more detailed review of Open Water over at Rotten Tomatoes. Enjoy.

Open Water

| | Comments ()
I just got back a few minutes ago from seeing Open Water at the theatre. It's being advertised as a shark movie...but it really didn't feel like that to me. I guess it's a way to get people to see it but it's much more about being left alone out in the middle of the ocean which is probably in reality much scarier than sharks. Or, how about being left in the ocean alone...with sharks? Sound good? Then go see the movie. It's not doing too badly on Rotten Tomatoes either.

All in all it was a good movie, the beginning started out kind of slow and corny and then there was a nude scene which kind of came out of nowhere and didn't really serve any purpose. After that though is when it got a lot more interesting. I haven't decided if I'll be buying it when it's released on DVD or not.
Blizzard's upcoming World of Warcraft's beta stress test has been extended to Sunday for those of us where weren't fortunate enough to get an actual Beta account. I've been having a lot of fun playing, even when they stress out the servers to cause problems. It would be very difficult for me to pass this one up when it is released at some point in the future. Don't know when yet because they haven't announced any dates yet :(

There was an official news item today on Valve Software's Steam delivery software offering the opportunity to start pre-downloading Half-Life 2. It actually gave me the option to start about 2 weeks ago but today they actually flashed the option I'm assuming to everybody. Surely this means the release is starting to get really really close right? On the lookout for it.

Mumblings in the Night

| | Comments ()
I'm sitting here, waiting for various downloads to finish to keep me occupied tomorrow. Wondering what I'll be having for lunch tomorrow and trying to ignore my cat.

Also, please try not to pay much attention to my picture. It's a pretty bad picture but I've been to lazy to get a new one online. Maybe tomorrow, maybe not.

Does anybody play Joint Operations? I haven't gotten into it much online because I pretty much get killed about 30 seconds after entering the game but was just curious.

Sims 2

| | Comments ()
Next Tuesday apparently The Sims 2 comes out. I must admit, I will probably get bored with it soon but I still have to buy it. I'm silly like that sometimes. I don't quite have the addiction that my little sister has for the Sims but this new one sure looks interesting....

Oil Change

| | Comments ()
Yay, tomorrow I get to take in my Camry for it's first oil change. I'm so excited! /sarcasm

At least it's free this time and I only have to do it every 5000 miles per the "Official Toyota Camry Owners Manual"...or something. It's the recommended interval, which I'm happy about, saves me money.

Google Ads

| | Comments ()
Yes, I have added Google's ads to my site because I'd like to try them out. I never really mind seeing the Google ads at other sites I visit because they're not intrusive, they don't pop up all over my screen and they don't install Spyware. Also, if you see something in them that interests you then please take a second or two to check it out and click. Everybody is happy :)

Slow Friday

| | Comments ()

It's been a pretty calm Friday today. Which is good sometimes to get a little break. Gives me some time to catch up on some other work related items that get pushed aside when we're busy. I am pretty sure I'm going to go see Open Water. Yeah, I'm in the mood for a good shark movie. If time and money allow I might go see Resident Evil: Apocalypse but we'll see. :)

Now playing: Evanescence - My Immortal (Band Version)

As some of you know, I now do almost all my computing at home on Apple Macs instead of PCs. Really it is for the better, I don't have to worry about Spyware, Viruses, major security holes in my OS (not that I was ever unprotected anyway) and so forth. Besides that, I don't have to fix it. I must confess though that I never have to fix much on my Windows PCs at home. Now at work and my Mom's house that's a different discussion.

Anyway, a few days ago, Apple announced a brand new, all new iMac G5. If I didn't already have a couple macs I'd have to seriously consider buying it, doesn't it look awesome? Click that link and then tell me it's not a cool looking PC.

Now, because I've been a PC and Windows user since...well, since forever and have also been very Anti-Apple, Anti-Mac since...forever I now get a lot of flak from my co-workers and my father. Which is probably deserved since I have done a lot of badmouthing. I did get talking to an employee at an Apple store in Bellevue who had also attended PAX who really understood where I was coming from before, because before OS X I guess it really was an unpleasant computing experience sometimes trying to use Macs. Just ask my Dad.

However, I have seen the light so they say about Mac OS X, it's awesome Unix underbelly gives you access to powerful Unix commands and it has a pretty robust network infrastructure built in...I just realized I'm getting excited again. Enough of that.

It's really hard to explain to a "non-believer" why Mac OS X is so great, you really just have to sit down and use it for a while to come to understand perhaps. Next time you're in a city with an Apple retail store, do it. If nothing else, at least you tried it before badmouthing it, unlike me for years.

OK, on to Small Furry Animals. My cat, Tasha, has been extremely nice the last couple weeks since I took her to live with me. I expected a behavior change but nothing like this. Sometimes it's just downright annoying but I still like her. She always sleeps on my bed now with me, which I don't mind :)
